Ideal bookshelf class

Silent Shores Reading Retreat | Art Rx | Book Chat and Build your Ideal Bookshelf: A Literary Art Collage

Location: Lake Kitchen

June 24, 2026 7:30 pm

In this hands-on art experience lead by Candyce Welch, guests are invited to explore the stories that have shaped them — and the ones they choose to keep close. The books we read, display, and return to again and again often reflect who we are, what we value, and how we see the world.

Using pre-cut book spines, bindings, and whimsical add-on elements, you’ll curate and assemble your own Ideal Bookshelf — a personal, creative snapshot of the titles, genres, and themes that feel most meaningful to you. This playful yet reflective collage invites you to consider not just what you read, but why certain stories stay with you.

Your finished piece becomes a charming keepsake, designed to be easily packed and beautifully displayed on a bookshelf or desk at home — a quiet reminder of this retreat and the love of books that brought us together.

No art experience is necessary. Come as you are, choose what resonates, and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something that tells your story — one book at a time.  And enjoy sharing why your "ideal books" are on your bookshelf.
