Lake Austin Spa Resort Reimagines Corporate Retreats

with a New Series for Team Building on Water

Ropes Courses are Out, The Ripple Effect is In: Spectacular Team Building Activities are Making Waves at the Award-Winning Destination Spa in Austin, Texas

AUSTIN, TX – Lake Austin Spa Resort, long known for its serene setting, outstanding cuisine and invigorating wellness programs for individuals, has added 30 new activities to their curriculum this year in a series called, “Ripple Effects: Where Wellness Meets the Water.” The award-winning waterfront luxury resort is helping businesses reimagine methods for improving a company’s performance, via creative and innovative activities on the water.

Lake Austin Spa Resort is offering new on and off-shore team building activities such as Kayak Relays, SUP Board Meetings, Group SUP Paddle Race and Geocaching, replacing traditional group events and dull boardroom meetings, courtesy of the resort’s pristine lakefront location.

“Research has shown that our brains are hardwired to react positively to water,” said Director of Programming Robbie Hudson. “It does two things; it calms and connects us. And it’s even suggested that it induces a sense of euphoria.”

Off the water activities available to groups include private cooking classes, team hikes, meditation walks and boot camp – all customized to the groups’ needs and goals. Employees can explore new ideas while sitting under a beautiful arbor, on a dock or even in a hammock — all designed to bring increased productivity to meetings that might once have been considered lackluster.

“We have re-thought our spaces to encourage conversation and bring creativity and inspiration to both individuals and companies,” said Mike McAdams, co-owner of the property.

In fact, a new floating event space over Lake Austin is available for groups up to 30 and can be arranged for a cocktail reception, lounge space or a formal dinner prepared by Executive Chef Stephane Beaucamp.

Lake Austin Spa Resort limits corporate retreats to one group at any given time, assuring high-level attention to each and every participant. The resort works with companies to build out a program that delivers bottom line results for the team’s goals.

“The location was perfect – right on Lake Austin, with beautiful relaxing views,” said Andrea J. Kin, Vice President of Operations at DaVita VillageHealth, Inc. “Instantly our stress levels went down. The accommodations were luxurious, and we took advantage of several different spaces for our meetings, from the conference room inside a spa, to a dining area by the lake and even a yoga dock that was right on the water. It was the perfect place for a team to bond.”

Nestled along the shores of scenic Lake Austin in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Lake Austin Spa Resort offers guests the sanctuary of a world-class spa and the warmth of a best friend’s lake house. Lake Austin Spa Resort offers all-inclusive vacation packages, which include accommodations in one of 40 charming lakeside guest rooms, three gourmet meals daily, indoor and outdoor fitness activities and classes, and a selection of spa and body treatments.

The resort has consistently been recognized for its excellence and as a result has received numerous industry awards.  Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Town & Country Magazine and Southern Living have honored Lake Austin Spa Resort as one of the best in the country and in the world.
